Current Research Projects

  • Interior West Riparian Threats Assessment

  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of Beaver Creek Experimental Watershed data  (Work is performed in collaboration between the RMRS AWA and the Hydrology Lab at Northern Arizona University’s School of Forestry.)

  • Monitoring the long term forest run-off effects of the Upper Beaver Creek Watershed Fuel Reduction Project.

  • The effects of fire and fire surrogate treatments on soil moisture availability in southwestern ponderosa pine forests.

Past Research Projects

  • Created annotated bibliographies for nine Experimental Watersheds in Arizona in order to make past research available to present and future generations. The nine Experimental Watersheds are: Battle Flat, Castle Creek, Mingus Mountain, Seven Springs, Sierra Ancha, Thomas Creek, Three Bar, Whitespar and Willow Creek

  • Analyzed the merit of utilizing Global Positioning Systems to delineate watersheds for watershed research and management.

Outcomes of Past Research and Technology Transfer

Key/Special Assignments

  • Data collection, monitoring and maintenance of the active gauging stations in the Beaver Creek Experimental Watershed.  Active Watersheds include WS9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 85, 86, & 87.
