Notes from our Facility Manager.

As we progress along with the Ft. Valley selective renovations I will try to keep taking photos.

Scope of work will be focused on three structures, The Office, The Lab/Cottage, and the School house. Each of these are going through internal and external upgrades and renovations.

At this point each has received new fire resistant cedar shingle roofs and they also included the Gus Pearson House, that structure will not receive any other work though at this time.

The three structures, office, lab/cottage, and school house are receiving state of the art boilers with under floor heat tubes to maintain the appearance of the age and time of the original structures. The office also will have radiators in addition to the floor heat on the first floor added to the second floor again this is done to keep up the appearance of the age and time line of the original structures.

The work so far accomplished on the Lab/Cottage has been painting inside and installation of new boiler and hot water heater (on-demand). And of course the new roof.

The work so far accomplished on the Office structure has been removal of the forced air heat system and duct work, installation of boiler and hot water heater, installation of whole house attic fan system for cooling, new roof, radiators, general cleaning and repairs of floors, and ceilings. There has been some progress in getting the external portion prepped for painting and getting the windows back in a functioning mode.

The work so far accomplished on the School house has been the new roof, some external preparation of trim for painting and incidental repairs of the structure. Placement of the new under floor heating system has provided some problems as there wasn't sufficient space under the floor to work so they had to do a process called Hydro Vaccuming of the soil under the structure.

As with most things of this age there have been some challenges to overcome we have had to repair and replace water valves, we are still in the process of getting the Natural Gas system re-certified and protected, and while it is not really connected there is also a fuels reduction project that is in the works on the administration site.
